Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 23, 2026

1. Introduction

MeraWedding Trust ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our background verification services.

This policy complies with the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and the rules made thereunder.

2. Data Minimization Principle

We collect only the minimum data necessary for verification purposes. Specifically:

  • Identity Verification: Name, PAN number, Aadhaar number (masked) — collected only for identity validation
  • Employment Verification: UAN/EPFO number — collected only to verify employment history
  • Financial Verification: Consent-based credit score check — no raw financial data stored
  • Legal Verification: Name and basic details — used solely to check court records

Data Retention: All collected data is deleted within 30 days of report generation, unless required for legal compliance. We do not retain personal data beyond what is necessary.

3. Consent Mechanism

For matrimonial background verification, explicit consent is obtained from the candidate (the person being verified) before any APIs are triggered or data is accessed. The consent flow:

  • A secure SMS/WhatsApp link is sent to the candidate's registered number
  • The candidate must authenticate via Aadhaar OTP or UAN login
  • No verification proceeds without explicit candidate consent
  • Consent can be withdrawn at any time before report generation

4. Data Usage

Your data is used solely for:

  • Generating the requested background verification report
  • Communicating about the verification status
  • Improving our services (anonymized, aggregated data only)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • End-to-end encryption for all data transmissions
  • Secure, access-controlled data storage
  • Regular security audits and compliance checks
  • Employee training on data protection

6. Third-Party Data Sources

Our verification services rely on government and authorized third-party databases including:

  • UIDAI (for Aadhaar verification)
  • EPFO (for employment verification)
  • Credit Bureaus (for financial check)
  • Court record databases (for legal check)

Data shared with these entities is governed by their respective privacy policies.

7. Your Rights

Under DPDP Act 2023, you have the right to:

  • Know what data we have collected about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal requirements)
  • Raise grievances regarding data handling

To exercise these rights, contact us at: trust@merawedding.in
